Caucus Eve January 3, 2008

Sorry I haven’t written in a while….I plan on being back in Texas in a couple weeks and normal posting will resume.
As for now….I am in Iowa…
It’s 3:15 A.M. and I am just about to head to bed for a few hours before waking up for an event at our hotel here in Burlington, Iowa. The temperature said negative 4 as we headed here from an event North of Davenport earlier in the night.
The Governor was awesome on Jay Leno tonight and the Zogby Poll released today still has him leading.
I hope you’ll check out the campaign blog over here throughout the day tomorrow for updates from the road and behind the scenes on Caucus Night.
Here’s a video from inside the bus tonight as Gov. Huckabee’s crew urges Iowans to Caucus
Keep your fingers crossed for the Governor….I’ll try and do some sort of posting late tomorrow night.

Perry for Huckabee? December 12, 2007

I’m sure it was an innocent slip, but nevertheless:
Gov. Rick Perry…had a slip of tongue implying support for [Gov. Mike] Huckabee, saying the former governor is the best candidate for ending abortion. ‘The issue becomes very, very clear to me from the standpoint of who I want to support and it is Mike Huckabee.’ Perry said yesterday while filing papers for Giuliani to participate in the Texas primary. ‘And it goes to the next level, who do we have that is the most electable of our the candidates, and I think without a doubt it is Rudy Giuliani.’
Perry became defensive when reporters then asked him if he thought Huckabee is indeed the best candidate on the abortion issue. While Giuliani has come under fire for his stance on abortion, Perry reiterated he believes Giuliani is the most electable candidate. ‘I’m sorry,’ he later replied. ‘I made an error. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.’
Gold Stars Aren’t For Everyone December 11, 2007

The Texas Progressive Alliance with Vince at the helm recently chose to award Rick Noriega and his wife Melissa with “Gold Stars.”
The term “gold star” should not be thrown around this easily and I am amazed that Noriega who often mentions his military credentials would choose to accept an award that is only given to the family members of fallen soldiers.
Gold Star Family Support.com has this to say:”Gold Star” is a generic term used to describe a family member who has lost a loved one in military service.
……come on guys……can we show some respect?

I met with Rep. Gohmert a couple of days ago and had a great time.
More to come on the interview.
I’ve been busy in Virginia gathering petition signatures to help get Governor Huckabee on the ballot here and then will head to Iowa for the Caucus next week…thus the slow posting.
I plan on being back in Texas full time beginning in January, so keep checking back.
Also, if you’d be interested in joining us here at ROT please shoot me an email at rightoftexas@gmail.com, we’d love some new blood from different regions of the state.
I’ll update with Rep. Gohmert’s interview this week.

Dallas Morning News Looks into Liberal Blogosphere November 26, 2007

Check out their article on the liberal Texas blogosphere here.
There’s no doubt in my mind that the leftwing has a much larger and broader readership in Texas than do conservatives. I think for the most part the GOP is still having trouble getting their candidates to embrace the web and also for the grassroots to look towards blogs for gossip and local political information.
Hopefully the ‘08 cycle will help change that!

Baylor Football November 17, 2007

Talk is that current 49ers coach, former NFL star, and former Baylor football standout, Mike Singletary, and current Arkansas head coach, Houston Nutt, are in talks with Baylor to replace Guy Morris after this season.
The talk is also that Baylor is offering a pretty large $ amount for the position.
Either of these two coaches would be a huge pick-up for Baylor.
Anybody else hearing anything?
